Whitney Thorpe, M.S.
Project Scientist
Ms. Whitney Thorpe is a fisheries biologist and environmental scientist with more than 10 years of professional experience working in fisheries monitoring, management, and restoration in California’s Central Valley watersheds and the Bay Delta. Whitney has extensive experience in fisheries field work focusing on native and non-native California fish species biology and ecology. Her work has involved developing, leading, and implementing field data collection techniques, performing data analysis, writing reports, and handling federal, state, and local permitting. Whitney’s skills and experience include evaluating juvenile salmonid population metrics and the physical quality of rearing habitats in anadromous watersheds; evaluating the effectiveness of restored salmonid spawning, rearing, and floodplain habitats; and developing novel sampling methodologies to address traditional estuarine fisheries research questions. Whitney’s skills also include conducting special status species surveys, performing construction monitoring, and preparing documents for California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) compliance.
